Legal aid can provide access to free or reduced cost legal advice in criminal and civil cases if you cannot otherwise afford an advocate.

Legal Aid

Are you eligible for Legal Aid?

Legal Aid in the Bailiwick of Guernsey is only available to private individuals. It is not available to companies or groups of people.

To qualify for Legal Aid you must satisfy two requirements. The first part looks at your financial means, that is to say, how much money you have to spend after you have paid your income tax and social insurance. The second part looks at the legal merits of your case.
